The Chicagoland Apartment Association (CAA) has elected Gozen Hartman, co-founder, Principal, and Chief Executive Officer of Fairlawn, to its Board of Directors. In this role, Gozen brings deep operational, strategic, and industry experience to the Board and will help support CAA’s mission of elevating the Illinois rental housing industry through advocacy, education, and networking. Her appointment reinforces Fairlawn’s longstanding commitment to leadership within the multifamily industry and active engagement across the Illinois market. Fairlawn is a vertically integrated multifamily real estate investment, management, and development firm based in Chicago and Champaign, Illinois.

As Chief Executive Officer of Fairlawn, Gozen’s core focus is building a strong operational platform that optimizes property and investment performance by integrating Fairlawn’s investments, operations, and finance and administration functions. She also ensures that Fairlawn’s management philosophy and culture are effectively deployed across all markets. Since co-founding the company in 2015, Gozen has played a central role in growing Fairlawn from fewer than 10 employees and 300 units to more than 150 employees and over 5,750 units today.

“CAA plays a critical role in shaping the future of rental housing across Illinois,” said Hartman. “I appreciate the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors and to be impactful as we work together to advance thoughtful advocacy, education, and collaboration across the industry.”

Prior to co-founding Fairlawn, Gozen spent 12 years at McKinsey & Company, where she worked in strategy consulting within the air and travel industries and managed a global team of industry experts across travel and logistics. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Science in Transportation Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

In addition to her role at Fairlawn, Gozen currently serves as a Governing Director on the University of Illinois Foundation Board and recently completed a two-year term on AppFolio’s Customer Advisory Board.
